How it all began
A dream takes root
After spending years caring for elderly parents and working in healthcare, we experienced firsthand how loneliness, stress, and life's challenges can affect people of every age — and witnessed something remarkable: animals reach people in ways medicine alone cannot. A gentle nuzzle. A curious goat. A miniature horse quietly standing beside someone who simply needs a smile.
What began as a dream, nestled in the rolling hills of Bush, Louisiana, has grown into a place where thousands of visitors unplug, learn through experience, rediscover cherished memories, and meet farm animals for the very first time.

Juliette Thompson
As a PATH International Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor, Juliette has spent years working with children, adults, veterans, and individuals with diverse physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges — witnessing firsthand how a simple interaction with a gentle horse can build confidence, reduce anxiety, and create moments of hope. For Juliette, every visitor matters, every animal has a purpose, and every day offers an opportunity to make someone's life a little brighter.
Ana Hands, M.D.
Ana brings a lifetime of compassion, healthcare experience, and dedication to serving others. Her medical background reinforces Alegria Ranch's commitment to creating programs that nurture emotional well-being, encourage healthy connections, and promote lifelong learning. Together, Juliette and Ana share a vision of a place where animals help create experiences that enrich lives and strengthen communities.
